Two Preppies and a Wedding....

April 6th, 1991 was a truly wonderful wedding day for James and I........
Such joy and laughter then as well as now.... I am very thankful for "us".

Over two decades now of being a couple, it just keeps getting better n' better!

Waaay back in 1991, two Preppies had a White Tie formal wedding and reception...and had a total blast! So many good memories of that evening and so many wonderful years we've enjoyed together with many more to come, the good Lord willing and the creek don't rise!

Even though our wedding was held up-North, it had a Southern flair to it with the merging of two deep-south families. Both the wedding and reception were held in a wonderfully historic building with huge green marble columns off-set by the delicacy of white tulips, lillies, roses and such n' ribbon and candlelight.... The bridesmaid's dresses were simple, ballet-length Lanz of Salzburg evening frocks in midnight plum tones and the groom and his groomsmen wore white tie. I was going to be just like my mother and wear my white debutante gown with sleeves added to it but fell in love instead with a heavy silk champagne-hued ballgown featuring rosettes scattered across the bodice. Food, festivity and a jazz band completed the fun scene that night while a horse and carriage completed the close to midnight evening's get-away for James and I.

Here's two pictures of that day's happy couple and a more recent picture of said couple at another wedding reception almost two decades later held this past summer in Charleston, SC with my side of the family...

Happy Anniversary to my real life prince charming, my James!

  4. Thank you Jen! :) I'm home from work right now; all dolled-up and awaiting James to take me to a restaurant he has reservations for but won't tell me any more details about... Here where we live, there's not a whole lotta' choices so I've narrowed it down to three possibilities, haha.

    Best to you too, Lachlan

  5. Thank you so much V! I really appreciate that and James' parents are such an inspiration to us...and I think they're rounding-up to the big 50 Anniv. fairly soon. Will hafta' do a big party for that. Such awesome folks and they worked together 7 days a week, 365 days a year for 30 years at their business- I'm still so amazed by that! And James and I enjoyed working with them 12 years of our marriage. Sometimes it's so wierd to be back in Charlotte and NOT working with the Ivys ;)

    Best to you, love Lachlan

  6. Hi Bevy! We had envisioned a Savannah wedding but my father was on a donor list and so traveling from Wisconsin, where he still worked, to Georgia wasn't possible for him at that time.

It was fun anyway and kinda' nice because our wedding/reception in April was for all the wonderful Wisconsin folks we knew & hung around with while living there and then we had a post-wedding reception a month later in North Carolina which many of our southern folks attended...

    Best to you, Lachlan

  9. Thanks Elizabeth! We had a great evening-out together and James surprised me by completely planting our kitchen garden plus did the lawns as well...wow ;) I don't know what I liked more: dinner at a fav. restaurant or this...

  10. Thanks Jen...will do soon! I'm behind a bit this week with emails, etc, wheh... always LOVE the social-life but being out with friends for dinner every night for the past two weeks since we got back from France after full days at work has been something else, haha. This weekend I have "off" of everything and may finally get caught up with stuff including finally unpacking from our trip, lol ;)
